South America
Argentina, Brazil, and Iguassu Falls
 10-days / 8-nights
Tour is completed - contact us to customize this trip for you.

The most famous and fabulous cities of the two biggest and best known countries of South America – and the cataracts that come between them, the world-famous Iguassu Falls, the widest, most spectacular falls in the world.  And yet, the two cities and two countries are not at all alike.  Rio has the most stupendous natural beauty of any city in the world.  The beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon and Leme nestled between towering urban mountains. Buenos Aires has wide boulevards, more European and wider than Paris ’.  They’re as different as Samba and Tango, as different as Portuguese and Spanish.  The only thing Brazil and Argentina have in common is Iguassu Falls , which straddles both countries and which we visit from both sides.

Day 1 - USA / Rio De Janeiro , Brazil
From you departure city fly to the world’s capital city of fun, Rio de Janeiro .

Day 2 – Rio De Janeiro
You will be met by your local at the airport to assist you in your transfer to the hotel. Balance of the day at leisure. Take in the beach or explore the city and partake of the many local attractions.

Day 3 – Rio De Janeiro: CORCOVADO & SUGAR LOAF
Beautiful cities are either situated in the mountains or by the shore – Rio , the city of unparalleled natural beauty, has the best of both – dazzling beaches nestled between sea and mountains.  Rio has more than just incomparable natural beauty it has a climate, a zest for living where every day is carnival.  And it’s got history and culture.  Today’s visits include the beaches, the world’s international playgrounds of Ipanema, Copacabana and Leblon.  You’ll sing their praises – along with “The Girl from Ipanema”.  Rio is indeed blessed – literally.  It’s even got the gigantic statue of Christ the Redeemer – the symbol of Rio – gracing the city from the peak of Corcovado .  Many cities have one symbol, Rio has two –  the second of which is Sugar Loaf Mountain, whose cable-car ascent is as thrilling as the views from its summit. (B/L)

Days 4&5 – Enjoy Rio De Janeiro !
The time in Rio is unplanned, but there are many optional tours available.  A great option is a journey along the ocean roads to the fishing village of Itacuruca ; here you’ll embark on a Saveiro (schooner) for a daylong cruise to the tropical islands in the Sepetiba Bay . (B & B)

Day 6 – Iguassui Falls
Fly to Iguassu and transfer to your hotel before heading out to see the falls.  Iguassu is twice as wide as Niagara Falls , and is the widest falls in the world.  Cross into Argentina and drive to majestic Devil’s Throat, where the cascading and thundering water rush from a semi-circle, creating thousands of rainbows.  So make a wish to see the most cosmopolitan city of South America – Buenos Aires . (B)

Iguassui Falls Day 7 – + Buenos Aires , Argentina
Fly to Argentina ’s capital and transfer to your hotel. Buenos Aires has even “out-Europeaned” Paris .  Buenos Aires , not Paris , has the world’s widest avenue, the Avenida 9 de Julio. And it’s got a definite chic Italian feel, too. With a large Italian population, Buenos Aires is a city of music, opera at the world famous Teatro Colon, and it’s got its very own beat, the sexy, sultry tango. The rest of the day is free. (B)

Day 8 – Buenos Aires
The morning tour of Buenos Aires visits the Central Plaza de Mayo with the Casa Rosada.  America has the White House, Buenos Aires has the palace-like Casa Rosada, the “Pink House”, where Evita Peron rallied the masses from the balcony – the same balcony on which Madonna “played the palace” as Evita in the movie. End the day where Evita ended life – Recolleta Cemetery , which is totally unlike any other cemetery in the world. It’s the “Graceland of South America”, where Evita’s fans still visibly emote as they pay their respects. (B)

Day 9 - Buenos Aires (& Tango Show)
The entire day is free; optional adventures include a journey along the Pan American Highway into the pampas to a Gaucho Fiesta ($35), be “pampa-ed” on all the beef you can eat on an estancia. Or learn the tango, and then try it out in the evening, as we have dinner and see a show of voluptuous tango dancing at La Ventana. (B,D)
